If you read AutoSpies often, you are bound to notice there is little love between some of our fans. After all to defend your brand is a god given right now isn’t it? In reality most of our reader are fully ware of the real world, and appreciate all sorts of brands. You have to admire a Lexus fan who can admit he would rather drive a Range Rover through the wilds of Africa than his RX.
So imagine some of our more adamant fans surprise when reader 1dott8 showed you there is plenty of love to go around even on a BMW specific site. Yes even BMW boys can fess up and admit they would rather own an Audi. Oh the sacrilege!
There is a lot to say when a company that bases it whole existence on a philosophy, backs away from it. Last week our beloved BMW announced that they would not answer the Audi R8 with a product of their own. It was hard to believe at first, but the R8 is a specialized beast. So we just nodded our head and tried to understand.
But when BMW backed away from year another halo project, the ultra lightweight and high performance M3 CSL, you have to wonder. Is BMW stepping away from their core philosophy, or did other factors come into play?
No doubt many of us have, or will buy, a car that just doesn’t measure up. I know I have had my fair share on lemons over the years. But what can you do? Very little it seems unless you have the right contacts. 001 as we all know is a well connected individual, and he let us in on a little secret.
How about your very own contact to help you if you ever have the unfortunate experience of buying a lemon? Break out the PDA and log this one away for future use if you ever have the need.
Agent00J sure is making his mark with a lot of you. But is he right on, when it comes to Lexus?
Our ace in the hole thinks he has found the answer to Lexus woes, and if you read in between the lines he may be dead on. In this short essay on the hollowed brand, Agent00J tells it as he sees it, and makes Lexus fully aware of their shortcomings. Actually this might make a good reading for the competition as well because they may all of the help they can get.
To say 2008 is shaping up as an ugly year may be an understatement. But for whom? you were Kia you would be laughing, people are falling all over themselves to get into their cars. If you were BMW you would quote the company line stating you will prevail in the end. If you were Lexus you would give 0% interest and top it off with a Sales Event until the end of the year, praying for more customers. Of course since the Spies don’t have a crystal ball, well can’t see the future. So what do we do?
We just have to ask you who will the biggest loser when 2008 ends. All I have to say is, I hope it isn’t as bad as you are predicting.
