Believe it or not, it was pretty easy to get caught up in all of the bad news circulating this week. But if you did get caught up in the mess, you would have missed a debut of epic proportions. Porsche, one of the few bright spots in the industry, chose this week to uncover the revolutionary Panamera. While four doors for a Porsche might not be that unusual in a SUV. A sedan for the sports car icon is a totally different animal. Can Porsche take on the likes of BMW with a sport sedan of it own? Check out the gallery and let us know if Porsche is on to something here.

So you really think that the new Nissan GT-R is just as fast as a Porsche GT2 Turbo? What happens when you take all of the hype out, and just take two examples out on the same track to see just how well they do? When a European automotive site took them both for a spin on the Nurburging track, they came up with a whole different story.Not only did the GT-R fail to live up to the challenge, if fell to merely, dare I say, “mortal status” by being whipped by over 25 seconds! If Nissan still holds to their story, then they need to back it up with actual footage next time.

Leave it up to Agent001 for leading us to economic salvation. While the rest of the world is caught up in the gloom and doom, 001 sat us all down and laid out a plan of salvation. With the oil companies raking record amounts of cash, why not as a good gesture, use that cash to bailout the auto industry? After all they have a vested interest in making sure there are plenty of cars around to consume their products. The global PR from such a gesture would place the oil companies in the annals of history forever. They always say those with the greatest potential are out there just a bit further than the rest of us. Agent001 just proved that.

Lexus is known for a lot of things. Quality, dependability, and consistency come to mind. But one thing Lexus never does is push the envelope; everything is ultra conservative and consistent. But with the radical changes the auto industry need to perform just to survive, Agent001 wondered if evolutionary is simply good enough. There comes a time when the industry needs leaders, those who can and will make changes. Lexus is an excellent follower and refiner, but when the chips are down can you count on them to take the lead?
