After what seemed to be the longest gestation of any super car in recent history, Lexus announced this week that a production ready LF-A was going to make an appearance at the Tokyo Auto Show. Taking time off to perform additional work undercover on the anticipated super car may have been a good move by Lexus. When this car first debuted it had 500hp under the hood, but by the time it was set to be released this was feared by many to be woefully inadequate. Lexus responded to these concerns with a full 100 extra ponies to keep up with the competition. So when will we actually see it on the streets? Only Lexus knows for sure, but I bet it is sooner rather than later.

If you remember the 60’s and the 70’s pony car wars, then a shoot out between the Camaro, Challenger, and Mustang may seem familiar. If not, you might want to crack a history book and learn what it was like to have 400 hp in a 4000 lb sedan with drum brakes and bias ply tires. Scary to say the least, but was also exciting by any measure. So has time improved the breed? Are the latest generation models up to the task of defending the family honor? Take a look at this latest shootout and tell us if the glory times are back for ponycars.

Agent00J is back into the hunt for a new car again. As you may be aware he is looking for the replacement of his beloved M3. But this time is he taking us all for a ride by limiting his selection to a few select mainstream enthusiast cars? Interestingly enough he is racking up enough miles a year that he may drive this car into the six figure range. So will he make a move to the reliability kings or make a move to the dark side for fun? Whichever route he chooses we know his will be more than happy to give us the inside scoop on what helped him make his ultimate decision.

In the States many tend to classify Toyota as an economy brand. With the stateside separation of Toyota and Lexus, that might seem logical. However when you move overseas with the absence of Lexus, you quickly find that Toyota competes head on with many models challenging premium brands. Most notably may be the latest Toyota Crown, which has been released as a competitor to BMW’s bread and butter 7 Series. Not only does this challenge some of our views, but is also may give us an idea of what Lexus models might be like in near future. Funny how some stereotypes are difficult to break no matter how wrong they are.
