It started out innocently enough. BMW gave us our first teaser shots of the new 7-Series with just barely a hint in a pro golf tournament backdrop. Then along came the news that July 7th BMW would release the Full Monte on the new flagship sedan. Now as most of you know, the best kept secret can never be kept for very long, and 009 happened to come across the full set of images 4 days early, in of all place a photography website. With the embargo broken, a flood of speculation broke out on the web and 001 just had to set everyone straight by being the first one out with the full details. Isn’t it nice when everyone else follows?

Leaked shots and broken embargos seem to be the norm rather than the exception these days. So when the new Mazda3 shots broke on to the web, few noticed at first. However when 001 took a look he discovered that this model was leap years ahead of the competition in many ways. So far ahead in fact, that he went as far as to say everyone would soon be following in Mazda’s footsteps. With the path that Mazda has been blazing as of late, it is no wonder everyone is looking at them for what the future will hold.

If you haven’t heard by now, June was one of the worst months for the auto industry. Wave after wave of double digit losses ensued with very few highlights rounding out the month. 009 took a quick analysis of the landscape and challenged you to look ahead and tell us who the real winners and losers were going to be in the next few months. If your comments are correct the sight isn’t going to be pretty, with a very bleak outlook for the remainder of the year.  It certainly looks like a rough road ahead.

Gas mileage is the new rage these days for very good reason. But do you have to sacrifice performance for mileage? Not if you listen to Agent00J and his merry band of cohorts, as they laid out the best performers that won’t break the bank when it comes to filling the tank. While many of the usual suspects came into play, quite a number of you chose models that have embodied the concept, but not really the essence of the idea. To each their own however, but I have to say some of you need to reflect on your definition of “performance”.
