They always say the first impression is the best one. That certainly holds true when you meet someone for the first time. You take in that initial picture, and you automatically know quite a bit about what they are about. So with that being said, it also makes quite a bit of sense, that what you drive can define who you are. A car is a personal choice in many ways, and is an outward reflection upon you. Agent009 looked at this image, and wanted to know Are You Being Branded By The Car You Drive? As simple as it seems, in many ways, we may fall victim to the advertising hype and be judged by what we drive, not who we are.

Chevrolet rocked the world this week when it released the new Volt. Well sort of. If you were expecting that ultra sleek and futuristic concept to come to life just like the Camaro did, you would be disappointed. Putting aside the decidedly Prius cosmetics however, we did see the nuts and bolts under the skin lived up to the billing and Chevrolet does get credit for moving in the right direction. Keep checking in though, because it won’t be long until we start hearing real world performance and mileage figures. Only then will we see if the Volt can live up to the hype.

Has Hyundai’s Genesis started to be a thorn in the side of Lexus yet? The full effect has certainly not been felt, but they have indeed garnered the eye of some Lexus buyers. There always is a certain amount of buyers seeking caviar on a beer budget, and these buyers seem to be at least looking at the Genesis. Hyundai announced this week that their research indicates they are not stealing first time buyers as expected, but striking the bulk of their sales from people that have already own a premium brand, It seems that quite a few buyers have lost that loving feeling because of the cost to maintain them. There is a certain price to pay for owning the best, and some people are unwilling to pay it I guess.

With Acura’s TL, Nissan’s Maxima, and even Volkswagen’s CC it is pretty easy to argue that the differences between a luxury brands entry level model and a lesser brands top end models is getting blurred. How else can Agent00J compare three different models from different lineages, and reach the conclusion that the commoners may actually be better than a proven luxury marque? Pretty interesting stuff to be sure, but you need to give your two cents worth before it is too late because this discussion is far from over.
