Our popular series on putting you in charge took a new turn this week. Agent009 put you in charge over at Lexus. Before the keys cooled on his keyboard, comments came rolling in. Lexus as we all know has several unique challenges facing them and many think they are on a titanic slide into the abyss. But can you stop the customers from jumping overboard before it goes down? Everybody is gunning for the big guys, and if you are Hyundai you might think you have a chance at stealing some low hanging fruit from Lexus. Agent00J scanned the market wanted to know, can Hyundai really score big in the US at Lexus’ expense? Agent009 threw more fuel on the fire by bringing your attention to the possible fate of two the big guys. Mercedes-Benz and BMW are having financial fits right now, and if they don’t fix their balance sheets soon, we might see them merge with some of the bigger players! I can’t help thinking of BMW’s “we are better because we are independent ads” they ran not so long ago. Seems they might have spoken too soon.

I don’t know what happens when you move to Detroit but I’m not sure if I like it. Take for example, Jim Press former head of Lexus U.S. operations now over at Chrysler. After just a few short months at the helm of probably the weakest automaker in Detroit, Mr.Press made one very strange comment. The case that I am referring to, has to do with a recent quote that Chrysler will emerge from bankruptcy as a challenger to BMW. Jim, now if I might be so bold, take a look at the last two Chrysler cars I rented this year and tell me why they are falling apart in under 12,000 miles? That little tip might better serve Chrysler right now than challenging BMW.
