When you mention quality and luxury I bet Hyundai might not be your first choice, but then again maybe it should be. Hyundai’s first attempt at marketing a flagship car in the U.S. has met few obstacles. It is selling briskly in spite of the economy, and just last week it took the North American Car of the Year Award at the prestigious Detroit Auto Show. While that is impressive you won’t sway Agent00J, as he voiced his reasons why the Korean brand simply can’t take on the likes of Lexus. As logical as his well thought out article was, it seems Hyundai just isn’t buying it. Actually they are moving full steam ahead and launching the all new Equus in Korea priced and a whopping $96,000! With the success of the Genesis is Hyundai on to something, or simply losing grip of reality?

I always like it when someone crunches numbers and makes a stab at the future. When German car fan THEGENIUS took a stab at it, many of you couldn’t believe his truths. Taking current sales trends of the big three German Luxury makers, THEGENIUS mapped out a scenario that showed a changing of the guard in the not so distant future. To say he had his fair share of critics might be an understatement, but it is also fair to say there were many supporter silently nodding in agreement.  Are you ready for the change?

Perception and loyalty are two factors all makers want to preserve. After all the grass is almost always greener on the other side of the fence for car buyers, and we tend to switch brands often. So when the latest brand perception study hit the web, we were the first to let you confirm that your brand was near the top, or for some still scraping the bottom. But what may been an interesting turn of events occurred when the 2008 Polk Loyalty Awards winners were announce the next day. It seems that perception and brand loyalty aren’t as closely linked as we thought. How else can you explain the category winning Corvette with a meager 23.90% loyalty rating? Are we really that fickle?

Chrysler got some great news this week, with the announcement that Italian automaker Fiat would sign a non binding strategic agreement. If you haven’t notice Chrysler is in a lot of trouble, and has absolutely nothing to compete with in the smaller car market. Fiat on the other hand has many battle proven weapons at it’s disposal to aid it’s newfound ally in the U.S.  Agent009 gave you a quick rundown of the current Fiat lineup and asked you what should they bring over to these shores ASAP. Barely had those keys cooled on that article did we get an answer. The hot selling Fiat 500 may be on the fast track to the U.S. as soon as a 2010 model. This Mini sized competitor fares well overseas against the Cooper, and could serve as the cornerstone of a new direction for Chrysler.
