Value seems to be the key word these days, and automotive purchases are starting to reflect that. With many investments in shambles the purchase of an automobile has taken on a value driven light. So when Agent00J asked you to pick the best value for under $50k, value may have been the overriding concern for a number of you. Gone were the extravagant thoughts from the discussions because for many of you reality seemed to be the thought of the day. Pose this question just two years ago and I would bet the answers would be quite a bit different than they are today.

The age of the big butt maybe over for the automotive industry. BMW chief designer Chris Bangle the innovator of the “Bangle Butt” for a host of BMW models, announced he is not only leaving BMW but maybe the entire automotive industry as well. Rarely does the industry have such an influential individual surface and make such an impact in a short time. Bangle will be missed and we certainly hope he graces our presence in this industry in the near future.

Just when you thought it couldn’t get any worse for new vehicle sales, it does. The January sales are in and the results aren’t only depressing, they are downright historic. I can safely say since I became interested in cars in my teens, I haven’t seen anything like this. President Obama plans to address the automakers woes by appointing an Auto Czar in the near future to help the industry though these historic times. So Agent009 thought he might need some of your help. With that thought he posted the entire industry sales for the month and asked you make some hard choices. While the official response from Washington hasn’t come in yet, I have heard from some inside sources they might take us up on a thing or two.

The Hollywood A-list always try to set the new trends. Whether it is outlandish displays of wealth, or spearheading social responsibility, people watch what they do, and take note. So when 16 year old rock star Miley Cyrus traded in her Porsche Cayenne for another ride, it simply had to make a statement. The statement she chose wasn’t hot pink or super fast, but the new Toyota Prius in her driveway was decidedly green in nature, intending to show her concerns on global warming. While this display of social responsibility might be unique for her years, the Hello Kitty floor mats she was outfitting the car with certainly rang true to her age.
