Hyundai fans rejoiced this week when the covers came off the new EQUUS in Korea this week. Brimming from the very warm reception the public is giving the new Genesis sedan, and the even warmer reception to the Genesis coupe received form the press, their day in the sun may have come. From the moment the EQUUS was first announced many realized this sedan was focusing in on the all too successful Lexus LS. Taking the Lexus playbook and turning it back against Japanese automaker, may have put Hyundai on the right track. Immediately comparisons of the sumptuous interior drew comparisons from the readers sparking heated debate. Speculation was finally put to rest though when the full press release became public, because it was now obvious of the intended target. But will Lexus merely stand still and take it on the chin?

Are you loyal to your brand? You might think so, but if you look at the statistics you will see very few actually buy the same brand over and over again. After Agent00J’s beloved M3 took an off road excursion, he openly debated the merits of being loyal or taking the plunge to the dark side with a new automaker. Hard medicine for some of you to swallow, but many of the “enlightened” encouraged him to survey the landscape and make the best decision. Will he stay true to the brand or venture into waters unknown?

This was the week for big debuts. Not only did Hyundai introduce the EQUUS, but BMW revealed that the Progressive Activity Sedan we have been hearing so much about lately, was actually going to be the new 5-Series GT Liftback. While this unique design may exhibit some admittedly polarizing characteristics. The all new 2010 Mercedes Benz E-Class coupe the debuted this week as well, certainly knew how to swoon the crowd. Sexy curves and a stunning profile made the wait worth it for many of the Mercedes fans.

After a near death experience in the 1980’s Audi seems to have finally regained momentum in the US. Even die hard BMW fans such as Agent00J and Agent001, have stopped and taken notice. But will they gain enough momentum to overtake the other German brands in the US? That may yet to be seen, but Audi is taking notice of the gaps in the competition lineups and is taking aim. In one case, Lexus may feel the heat before the Germans do though, when news that the V10 R8 was enroute to the US market ahead of the LF-A! Lexus has still not announced a definitive date for the still gestating LF-A to make it to market. With the timeline being so long for the LF-A, many fans are openly wondering if will ever make it to the market.
