April Fools Day always has its fair share of practical jokes. So when AutoSpies.com became BMWSpies.com for the day, some of you weren’t fooled. But when we posted that President Obama ordered Chevrolet and Dodge out of NASCAR, a lot of you took the bait. At first there was outrage and some heated discussion. After all NASCAR to many is part of the American fabric, how could they do this?. Only about halfway through the day did cooler heads prevail and the prank was uncovered. But by that time quite a few of had been taken and many of the social sites were carrying our post. You never know what the Spies are up to, so look out.

Julius Caesar led the Roman Empire until he lost touch with reality and was slain by his own non-believers on the Ides of March in 44 BC. Can Lexus now be suffering a similar fate? With ever decreasing sales becoming the norm for the luxury brand, many were expecting that everyone else is suffering a similar fate. This isn’t necessarily true. If you ever though that a key element to success was overall sales figures then you might have been shocked to learn that BMW has pulled out ahead of Lexus in overall sales to become the Luxury Brand sales king in the US. With a full 9 months left to go for the year, Lexus has plenty of time to turn it around, but they better hurry because BMW won’t give up easily.

The Obama administration it seems doesn’t have much patience for companies that fail to keep up. Originally though to be in Detroit’s back pocket, the administration bared it’s teeth and fought back this week. Many were shocked to see the feds made good on their promise to unseat any leader it deemed as unworthy when they gave CEO Rick Wagoner his walking papers. to many Wagoner was symbolic of the industry woes, and when the time came to make changes, he was the first to go. I don’t know about you, but I think it is safe to say that GM execs may now jump first, and ask questions later in the future if they want to survive under these new government guidelines.

I’ll be one of the first to say that the new G37 convertible is a stunning sports car. But beauty is more than skin deep, and when Agent009 became the lightening rod for posting a controversial story about this new arrival, all heck broke loose. Even though the G37 tested and scored well in the review, Agent009 it failed because of the simple fact that it didn’t raise the bar. In a rebuttal, reader DocMarten found yet another review of the G37, this time from another perspective that may have countered 009’s twist. It just goes to show you, that there is always two sides to every coin.
