So what do you do to unwind after a hectic Paris Motor Show? Do you just kick back and order a cocktail knowing you did a good job? Not if you are Agent001, you run and jet off to Dresden Germany and drive the new BMW 7-Series and then become the first to report back on it. But if that wasn’t enough, why don’t you just stumble upon the new 5 Series Progressive Activity Sedan while cruising the mountainside in Germany? Needless to say, 001 never seems to rest on his laurels, but the is what you expect from him, isn’t it?

You might recall last week Porsche challenged Nissan to explain the new GT-R lap times around the legendary Nurburgring circuit. Porsche tried and tried, but couldn’t get anywhere’s close to Nissan proclaimed times with their own example, and wanted details to explain the discrepancy. Nissan responded just a few days later with an explanation, and an offer for Porsche to consider. First they provided the explicit details on the record setting GT-R, and then a kind offer to send a test driver out to the ring and teach Porsche how to drive. While seems unlikely Porsche will accept Nissan’s kind offer to teach their drivers how to drive, I just don’t think this bickering is over just quite yet.

You have seen the silhouettes and the shadow shots of the upcoming Nissan 370Z. Not much to go on, but still a hint of something old and something new. Well off came the covers this week and the new 370Z was caught in the open with no camouflage. While the shape was unmistakable as a Z car, the lineage to the GT-R was apparent as well. This melding of two designs left most of you with quite a favorable opinion on the latest upgrade to this classic Japanese sports car. The spies say we like it!

Are we on the verge of a shift of automotive super powers? Until recently the Toyota juggernaut seemed to be consuming everything in its path. But the last sales quarter is proving humbling for the super power. At the first of the year Toyota looked as if it would conquer the US market and dominate the world. But just a scant 9 months later we can see another story. Toyota is proving it is human after all and is suffering from the worsening financial markets just like most everyone else. Many of you were taken back when they made it public this week that profits would be significantly lower than projected and even the recently lowers sales goals. But maybe the bigger story was that rival Volkswagen surpassed Toyota as the most valuable automotive giant in the world this week as well. Now who would have thought that this was even a possibility even 6 months ago!
