Is Nissan’s New GT-R really a giant killer? If you listen to German magazine Auto Express you might tend to agree. They took a look at the market and made the proclamation that if all you want is speed and performance, then the GT-R is the way to go. But listening to the responses from that very proclamation, most of you saw it in quite a different way. The majority of you tend to feel there are other areas that must be considered as well.

Driving fast and spending large amounts of money seem to go hand in hand. Agent00J queried you by asking if that price was just too high for you to consider in all cases? Yes even I can see spending over $100k for a Lamborghini or a Ferrari, they exude a certain exclusivity. But what about $100K for a Chevrolet Corvette or even a Nissan GT-R? Are garden variety nameplates worthy of your hard earned cash, or should they even be considered a contender at all?

It has been no secret that Cadillac has BMW in their sights. But who would have thought they could even play on the same field as the M5? Evidently BMW didn’t think so until now. The latest comparisons of BMW’s iconic M5 and the upcoming 556HP CTS-V all seem to point to the fact that Cadillac may have scored a direct hit matching or exceeding the M5 in many performance benchmarks. But the real blow came last week when Cadillac announced that the CTS-V will undercut the M5 by almost $30k in price. Now that is a blow that BMW may not be able to recover from.

So when does less actually mean more? In the case of Audi’s upcoming S4 less is indeed more. Less horsepower but with less weight actually equals more performance and better gas mileage to boot. CAR magazine ran the new supercharged S4 though the ringer and reported back that in almost every way the new it was better than the preceeding model. Now if Audi can pull this off with even more models in the line up they may position themselves to become a real pain in the neck for BMW.
